“The figures have been rising again for a few days. That is not how you want it, ”says the prime minister. According to him, it is still too early for firm conclusions. He calls on everyone to obey all the rules. “Then maybe something can be done again in December, and maybe something with a plus at Christmas and New Year’s Eve.”
Vaccination
During the party meeting, because of corona in the form of a TV talk show from the Marine Barracks in Ede, there was a lot of talk about vaccination. The VVD is under fire from several political parties for considering an indirect vaccination obligation. CU leader Gert-Jan Segers has called it ‘non-liberal’ on Saturday.
VVD party chairman Klaas Dijkhoff calls the discussion about whether or not to vaccinate “bizarre.” He does not want an obligation, but he can ‘understand’ that someone who organizes an event himself decides to only admit people who have been vaccinated.
“We should thank science for having it there and queue up for it,” says Dijkhoff. Minister Tamara van Ark (Medical Care) believes that the debate should not be narrowed down to the question ‘to oblige or not?’ The minister herself says: “Come here with that needle.”
Criticism of the left course
In the ‘talk show’ it was also about the election program of the VVD. Rotterdam councilor and ‘presenter’ Vincent Karremans asked Dijkhoff about criticism about the party’s left-wing course. “I even received a congratulation from the SP party leader in Rotterdam.”

Dijkhoff thinks it is not too bad and jokes: “For every step we take to the left, they put three to the left.” According to the outgoing party leader, the VVD is to the right of the middle. “There will have been election manifestos where we were more economically right and left again on migration than now.”
Next month there will be another digital party meeting. Then the members can participate in decisions about the content. In the first week of December, the VVD will present its list of candidates for the House of Representatives.
