Rutte concludes: not yet good news for amateur footballers

The amateur footballers of eighteen years and older have to wait a while before they are allowed to enter the training field together again. Prime Minister Mark Rutte has indicated at the press conference that no relaxation can be implemented yet. So training is only allowed in groups of a maximum of four people.

The KNVB took action on Monday at the Malieveld in The Hague, where the word ‘quiet’ was formed with more than a thousand football shirts. The football association wants to get the more than 600,000 amateur football players who are sitting still to train again. However, the cabinet does not intend to cooperate with these relaxations, the rules are not changing yet.

The figures do not lie, according to Rutte and Minister Hugo de Jonge. The Prime Minister is even threatening to take stricter measures, should no progress be made towards the end of the year.

Earlier, director of amateur football of the KNVB, Dirk Jan van der Zee, and Kees Jansma have already spoken about the importance of returning training courses for amateurs. The cabinet is not (yet) interested in this.
