Yesterday, it turned out that 925 new corona infections had been reported to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). That is almost 300 more than the average for the previous days.
In the six days from Monday morning to Sunday morning, the number of infections in the Netherlands rose by 4,086, which is considerably more than in the same period a week earlier.

Prime Minister Rutte responds to the question whether he is concerned. “I’m not worried, it doesn’t help you much. I’d rather take measures.” He emphasizes: “It also shows how important it is to stick to 1.5 meters. And wash your hands.”
Rutte says he is discussing whether something else needs to be done to prevent a second wave. “Today I have another meeting and later this week there are also all kinds of meetings, in which we will see what this means.”

A new corona fire is the city of The Hague. The Safety Region indicated a few days ago that the number of infections there continues to increase.
A striking part of the infections takes place in the catering industry. And that is why a number of catering establishments closed their doors on their own initiative last week.

The map above is about the situation in The Hague. On August 1, the average number of infections was 20. In the week up to and including September 6, there were more than 70.
Autumn
The chairman of the Haaglanden Security Region, Jan van Zanen, the mayor of The Hague, warned Friday: “With autumn approaching, people are more likely to sit indoors instead of on a terrace. Even indoors, it remains crucial to keep a distance of 1.5 meters.”
According to Van Zanen, people in some restaurants and cafes are closer together again. “People have the need to come together. That is understandable and it is possible, but only according to the rules.”
Today the municipality announced that no additional measures will be taken for the time being. The municipality is appealing to people’s own responsibility, a spokesperson for Van Zanen now says. Earlier, the royal city did not participate when Amsterdam and Rotterdam introduced a masking obligation when the number of infections there increased.
