U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died of complications from pancreatic cancer, the court said. Ginsburg was 87 years old.
Supreme Court judges (87) are being treated for cancer again
The death opens the door for President Donald Trump to appoint a new Supreme Court justice to replace Ginsburg, who was considered one of the court’s four liberal judges. She was appointed by Bill Clinton in 1993.
If Trump replaces Ginsburg before the election, it will probably lead to the conservative majority in the court being further strengthened.
Today, there are five judges who are considered conservative, and four who are considered liberal. During his presidency, Trump has already appointed two conservative judges, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

Just days before she passed away, Ginsburg dictated a statement to her granddaughter Clara Spera, urging Trump not to appoint a new judge before the election.
“My most burning wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is sworn in,” the statement said. NPR.
