/ world today news/ Despite the innate Russophilia of the Bulgarian people for centuries, Bulgarian politicians often suffer from Russophobia. But the Russophobic writings and actions of Zahari Stoyanov and Stefan Stambolov from the past centuries look like toothless banter in comparison with the outbursts of our modern Russophobes who call themselves “political class”.
Russophobia in Europe has spread to all sectors of political, economic and cultural life. It is no longer about dislike and hatred for Russia, but about its exclusion from the consciousness and existence of the peoples, about its erasure from the geographical map of the world. And our “political class”, as it has been established for a century, instantly pumped Russophobic breasts and unanimously stood behind all the madness and crimes that are committed to achieve the goal. At the beginning, the massacre and persecution of Russophiles – “Russian spies and agents of Moscow” – began, then, with or without reason, the Bulgarian government expelled most of the diplomats of the Russian embassy and consulates in the country. The real celebration has come: the sanctions. Whether it’s putting Russia on the sanctions watchlist, arming Ukraine, we’re all for it. Union loyalty and inferiority complex oblige.
Once upon a time, at the very beginning of the forties of the last century, after a 20-minute parliamentary debate, Bulgarian politicians joined the country to the fascist alliance of Germany, Italy and Japan. The political assessment of the union in question gave rise to a ditty that was constantly broadcast over pub radios:
“Rome, Berlin and Tokyo,
Faithful in the fight,
Soon they will impose
A new order on earth.”
And in the chorus of the song it was sung:
“Bulgaria, Bulgaria
You are happy now.
In your hands, in your hands
It’s all good”
The historical memory of Bulgarian politicians and the Bulgarian people is amazingly short. Today, no one can or wants to remember what happened to those who wanted to establish a “new order on earth” as well as the “happiness” that befell Bulgaria after the Second World War.
As the “new order” once predicted the liquidation of Russia as a state, this is what today’s geopoliticians from Washington and Brussels are planning. And then we were offered all the earthly goods that the omnipotent and omniscient from the European Union and the States promise us today.
It is clear: nothing new under the Bulgarian and global sky. Only the company of those eager to establish a “new order on earth” today is in the form of the US and the EU. And this new order predetermines a world without Russia. And we are again in the company of those who wish, as 83 years ago.
To achieve this goal, all means are allowed. The most important thing is to stop any information about Russia and from Russia, because it is a priori false, misleading, hostile. To achieve this life-saving goal, according to the EU’s recommendation (which in our view is mandatory), the Russian TV channels, except for “Hunting and Fishing”, have been closed by the Bulgarian TV providers. The “only truth” that the Bulgarian user is allowed to read and listen to is carefully selected by many “impartial journalists and editors” from the European headquarters and the domestic censors. Because the Bulgarian does not have the intellectual capacity of those who live in Brussels offices and it is impossible for him to distinguish the truth from a lie. They are delicate from Brussels: they do not tell us that we are oligophrenic, but this goes without saying. And the insinuations that this violated freedom of speech are unfounded. On the contrary, for example, all porn channels are protected from encroachment, presumably so as not to limit the user needs of those who have usurped the right to ban.
Our Russophobia has its priorities. They are indicated to us by the EU, USA, NATO. The first of them is “to stop Bulgaria’s dependence on Russian supplies of oil, gas, nuclear energy, to diversify, etc.”
In fulfillment of this mandate, we buried the South Stream gas pipeline and enthusiastically attached ourselves to Turkish Stream, the gas link to Greece. Now we are not dependent on Russia, but we are dependent on other suppliers, which by definition are among the good ones. It may be a bit more expensive, but union solidarity obliges.
Then, or before that, we buried in the ground about three billion Bulgarian leva built infrastructure in Belene and stored on it a ready-made nuclear reactor, which we cannot sell to anyone even for scrap metal. But because we need new nuclear power for another billion, we will buy new reactors, this time from an American manufacturer, we will build new infrastructure. We will build a repository for spent nuclear fuel, because the new supplier does not want to take it back to the States like the evil Russia. The important thing is that we will free ourselves from Russian energy dependence. And that we will become dependent on the United States – this dependence is beneficial.
And because all the lost funds and benefits for the Bulgarian economy and country are at the will of countries and organizations of which we are “loyal members”, no Bulgarian will ever be rich and free. And those who cause these sufferings to the people will continue to inhabit the parliament and ministerial offices. They have never suffered.
In popular readings on zoology, there is a claim that beavers tear off their testicles when they feel a threat to their lives. I am not sure of the truth of this, but if it is true as an instinctive reflex there is an explanation: In the event that it is caught, the beaver does not want its male powers to be used to produce offspring from which to skin expensive skins. Our politicians have the same behavior as beavers: they destroy the most important thing in our economy, so that Bulgarians will never be independent and rich. They themselves, the politicians, never engage in such manipulation, because they do not want to deprive themselves and those around them of the opportunity to accumulate wealth, privileges, honors.
What can you do? A question with many answers, but the most accessible to each of us is to choose carefully. In Parliament, we mostly send people who quickly grow beards, wear shiny suits and convince themselves that they are “class”, something different from the rest of us. And this “class” very often creates troubles that entire generations pay for with slave labor. Only we can face our historical being and create something different from what is imposed on us.
