Which Scarlett Johansson has filed a lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company over the payments it believes it should receive for Black Widow, has major consequences.
Not only did it spark a frenzy between Disney and the actress, it also appears to affect Marvel Studios’ ability to bring back old-timers. Specifically the brothers have doubts Joe on Anthony Russo, who are jointly responsible for some of the studio’s biggest hits to date, are about to return.
Back or not back?
The pair have made a total of four films for Marvel Studios, including the two biggest in the film studio’s history. In 2019, for example, they launched the immensely successful Avengers: Endgame.
Recently, the duo spoke several times about a possible return. For example for a movie with Wolverine in it, or for a film adaptation of the Secret Wars-comics.
The Wall Street Journal spoke to the pair and reveals that a deadlock has now arisen “in the pair’s negotiations to direct another Marvel film”. This has to do with the fact that the studio “not sure how to distribute their next studio and get paid.”
In short: the case with Johansson leads to more hassle than might have been initially anticipated.
