Russia’s withdrawal from the grain deal did not bring down food prices. They are back to 2021 levels. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following the work at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

“Prices, after they rose a little, have now reached the 2021 level,” Lavrov said on the Rossiya 24 TV channel. The minister drew the attention of journalists to the statistics. He emphasized that the forecasts about the grain crisis did not come true.

Previously grain deal was called upon to resume wheat shipments from the Ukrainian ports of Odessa, Black Sea and Yuzhny. The signing of the deal took place in Istanbul. The procedure was attended by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Turkish President Recep Erdogan.
