Russia’s Response to Ukraine’s F-16 Fighter Jet Infrastructure: A Retired Colonel’s Warning

Russia will target airfields earmarked by Ukraine for F-16 fighter jets

MOSCOW – Every attempt Ukraine to build airstrips and facilities to accommodate jet fighter F-16 will be responded with a troop attack Russia which destroyed before the infrastructure was fully built.

This was disclosed by a retired Russian Colonel, Viktor Litovkin, after Ukraine’s Western allies received the green light from the United States (US) to send F-16 fighter jets.

Litovkin told Russian news agency TASS that for the F-16 fighter jets to be operational, Kiev would need complex infrastructure facilities, including a well-equipped airfield, a radar station. Ukraine must also have special pre-flight preparation equipment and post-flight maintenance, as well as aviation fuel purification devices and missile storage.

“Ukraine has no such thing. If they start building everything, Russia will not turn a blind eye to it. The Russian Armed Forces will only wait until the construction work reaches a certain point and then launch an offensive (to destroy what has been built),” he was quoted as saying. Al ArabiaWednesday (23/8/2023).

Previously the Netherlands and Denmark on Sunday committed to sending up to 42 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Air Force Command, Yuriy Ihnat, said on Monday that F-16 fighter jets had landed in Ukraine as part of the Euro 2012 support campaign and Ukrainian pilots were familiar with them, according to state news agency Ukrinform.

“(F-16 fighter jets) have landed in Ukraine during Euro 2012… They landed on our runway and are fine there. Our pilots even had the opportunity to get to know them… That is, the West (F-16 fighter jets) have been at our airfields,” he said.
