Russia’s plan to encircle the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Lugansk region failed due to failures on the Seversky Donets – UNIAN

The plan of the Russian troops to encircle the Ukrainian forces in the Lugansk region failed miserably after the failures of the occupiers force the Seversky Donets.

This is reported CNN.

The journalists analyzed the videos received from the site of the destroyed bridges on the Seversky Donets and concluded that the Russian Armed Forces lost up to 70 units of military equipment at the beginning of this week.

Their goal was an attempt to encircle the Ukrainian defenders in the Luhansk region, but it, the newspaper notes, “failed miserably.”

CNN cites a report by the 80th separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which refers to the prevention of 9 attempts to cross the Russian troops. It claimed the destruction of at least 73 pieces of equipment, including T-72 tanks and various infantry fighting vehicles.

This count is backed up by analysis of drone footage showing Russian vehicles strewn along the highway north of the river, as well as half-submerged tanks.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine determined in advance the place where the invaders gathered, and the noise coming from the motorized tugboats with which the Russian Federation was trying to complete the bridge also helped.

Among the debris at the site of the pontoon, there were at least 30 infantry fighting vehicles, not counting what could have been destroyed among the crossing equipment.

Former Major General of the Australian Armed Forces Mick Ryan, commenting on the collapse of the Russians on the Seversky Donets, noted that the Russians probably made big bets in this direction.

“Therefore, this is probably a more serious setback for the Russians than some thought. This probably led to the fact that not only the BTG, but the whole brigade lost most of its combat power,” Ryan said.

It is also important that the Russians lost their meager bridge engineering equipment (and, probably, the sappers too). These resources are not cheap and are not available in large quantities. And they are very much in demand during the offensive.

The inability of the Russians to advance from the north across the river likely slowed their advance in the Luhansk direction, which for the moment depends on troops moving from the east and south across the front lines, which have made little progress in a month.

War in Ukraine: Update

APU succeeded successfully counterattack near Kharkovas a result of which the Russians had to leave defeated positions and move towards the Russian border.

However, the enemy does not leave the intention to capture the Donetsk, Lugansk and Kherson regions. Active, fierce battles are being waged in these directions.

The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated the beginning third decisive phase of the war. According to Aleksey Reznikov, for the next weeks the Armed Forces of Ukraine should rely on their own forces, while the heavy weapons supplied by the West equalize on the front of power.
