Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stressed, on Friday, that the West does not realize that under certain circumstances the confrontation between Moscow NATO countries to a preemptive nuclear strike.

Medvedev told reporters during a visit to Vietnam that “there are irreversible laws of war, and if it comes to supplying Ukraine with nuclear weapons, it will be necessary to launch a preemptive strike,” according to the Russian “Tass” agency.

Commenting on the expansion of the types of weapons sent by NATO countries to Ukraine, Medvedev did not rule out providing the United States and the European Union with nuclear weapons to Kiev in addition to the “F-16” fighters, warning: “Then the missiles with their nuclear warheads will reach them.”

“I went crazy”

He also added that “the United States acts, in general, according to its pragmatic interests, as it does not fight by itself, but rather makes money, and tries to destroy a centuries-old enemy.”

As for Europe, he considered it “going crazy”, adding: “I find it amazing, as it escalates the situation and inflames it with its decisions.”

About 65 billion dollars

It is noteworthy that the United States led the pressure for international support for Ukraine, and hastened to form an alliance to support Kiev after the Russian military operation in February 2022 and coordinate aid from dozens of countries.

In total, Ukraine’s backers have provided about $65 billion in military aid, according to US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

F-16

It is noteworthy that the White House had announced last week that Washington would agree to provide Ukraine with advanced F-16 fighter jets and dropped its opposition to that.

On Thursday, Kiev’s supporters discussed “plans to train Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation fighter aircraft, including the F-16,” Austin said alongside Milley, noting that “the planning and implementation of this training will be a big task.”

Austin also pointed out the possibility of establishing a fund for financial contributions to support the efforts of countries that do not have F-16s or the capabilities to directly assist in training, maintenance or sustainability.

As the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Army, Gen Mark Milley The change in the US position in favor of providing Kiev with warplanes, saying that if this had been done at an early stage in the conflict, the money would have been taken from the most urgent needs while strengthening the Ukrainian Air Force is a long-term task. And he added: “It will take a long time to build an air force of the necessary size and scope.”
