Russia wants to cancel an open meeting of the UN Security Council, during which it is planned to discuss the buildup of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine. The meeting, initiated by the United States, is scheduled for Monday, January 31st.

“I cannot think of another occasion when a member of the Security Council offered to discuss his own unsubstantiated allegations and assumptions as a threat to the international order from someone else,” he wrote.
At the same time, Polyansky expressed hope that the members of the UN Security Council would not support holding a meeting on Ukraine.
“I hope fellow members of the UN Security Council will not support this obvious PR move, disgracing the reputation of the UN Security Council,” he added.
