Brodsky did not make predictions about whether Russia would invade Ukraine.
“I will refrain from making forecasts – it is a thankless task,” the ambassador said.
However, he stressed that the embassy is closely monitoring the situation and hopes for a solution to the conflict through negotiations.
“I can say that we are closely monitoring the situation … At the same time, we hope that the current tense situation will be resolved peacefully, without serious consequences. This is our consistent position – we call for resolving the problems of eastern Ukraine through negotiations,” the ambassador said.
He also noted that the Israeli embassy is ready to ensure the safety of diplomats and ordinary citizens of Israel who are in Ukraine.
“We will do everything to ensure the safety of both diplomats and other Israeli citizens who are on the territory of Ukraine, if necessary,” Brodsky said.
