The Russian cargo ship RM 3 left the Russian-occupied Ukrainian port city of Mariupol on Tuesday morning with full cargo for the first time since Russia’s invasion.
The leader of the Russian-backed separatists in the breakaway republic of Donetsk, Denis Pushilin, told Telegram.
Ever since Russia’s invading forces rolled into Ukraine on February 24, Mariupol has been under heavy Russian attack. The city was relatively quickly surrounded and besieged and then laid in rubble.
According to Pushilin, the city’s new rulers have simultaneously seized several cargo ships that have been moored in Mariupol.
– Some of the ships will come under the jurisdiction of the People’s Republic of Donetsk, he says to the Russian news agency Interfax, according to NTB.
According to the separatist leader, the ships will be renamed and become part of a merchant fleet to be operated by the self-proclaimed republic.

Outside Rostov
The cargo ship RM 3 has not shared its position for several days, but on Sunday the ship was in the Azov Sea, not far from Rostov, according to Marine Traffic.
The website tracks the movements of ships around the world, but depends on the ships sharing their position.
