Russia’s international reserves reached a new historical high – 2024-04-15 05:57:00

/ world today news/ Russia’s international reserves exceeded 623 billion dollars and renewed their record high, according to the materials of the Central Bank.

The volume of international reserves as of October 29 stood at $623.2 billion, an increase of $1.6 billion over the week, or with 0.3 percent, mainly as a result of operations to purchase foreign currency within the provided budgetand rulesa“, the regulator said in a statement.

The previous record was set on October 22 – $621.6 billion.

International (gold-currency) reserves are highly liquid foreign assets held by the Central Bank and the government. Reserves consist of monetary gold, special drawing rights (reserve currency issued by the IMF) and foreign currency funds.

In mid-October, the Audit Chamber announced that Russia is among the five leaders in terms of international reserves, behind only China, Japan, Switzerland and India.
