Russia’s Defense Industry Ramps Up Military Equipment Production to Meet Army’s Needs in Ukraine

Russia’s defense industry will supply the army with “several times” more military equipment this year than in 2022 and 2023, Interfax reported, citing Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko, Reuters reported, citing BTA.

Krivoruchko pointed out today that Russia has put its economy on a military basis and has reoriented its defense sector factories to round-the-clock production to meet the needs of its forces in Ukraine.

The deputy minister announced that the pace and volume of production of armored weapons, including the T-90M main battle tank, continues to increase, TASS reported. He noted that last year the ground forces of Russia received more than four thousand armored vehicles.

Also, the combat aviation of Russia received in 2023 100 new or repaired aircraft, 150 helicopters. Russia’s various military branches have been equipped with 3,500 unmanned drones.

The tendency to increase production is also present in artillery systems such as the Msta-S self-propelled howitzer, noted the Russian Deputy Minister.
