The announcement contains few details and makes no mention of Ukrainian soldiers crossing the Dnieper.

Ukrainian officials also point out that Russian forces continue to conduct intense shelling across the river and that Kherson is once again without electricity.

Since Russia abandoned Kherson last month, the Dnieper has become the southern front line.

Russia has previously urged civilians to leave the territory in a 15-kilometer strip along the river, and has also evacuated civilian occupation authorities from Nova Kahovka, which sits on the banks of the Dnieper.

Ukrainian officials have previously indicated that the Russian military has withdrawn some of its artillery from positions near the river to safer positions further from the river, but the Ukrainians have so far not reported anything that the Russians are also leaving the cities.

“It was noted that in Oleški [pilsētā iepretim Hersonai] the number of Russian soldiers and military equipment has decreased,” the statement said.
