MOSCOW, November 7 – RIA Novosti. Fraudsters steal money from bank cards using a video edited from frames from a government press conference, Natalya Shumakova, an expert at the National Center for Financial Literacy, told RIA Novosti. According to her, a fake video appeared on social networks, which begins with frames from a news release: speeches of the minister labor and social protection of Anton Kotyakov, head of the Ministry of Digital Science Maksut Shadayev and head of the Federal Tax Service Daniil Yegorov. It ends with detailed instructions on how to find out about the alleged payments due from the state and receive them. In the comments to the video there is a link to a phishing site that mimics the pages of state bodies. The cybercriminals promise that the payment will come to the card within ten minutes, and not only to residents of Russia, but also the CIS. To do this, they ask to enter personal data and a bank card number. The site creators refer to non-existent regulations that promise that every Russian can allegedly receive compensation for the cost of paying for foreign-made goods. The link to the video comes in SMS, instant messengers or by mail, and sometimes from personalized numbers that copy the names of real government services. They also publish it on third-party sites. “The advertisement will contain information about additional benefits and payments for families with children or VAT refunds. The site visitor follows the link and gets to the trap site”, – said the expert. She recalled how not to become a victim of scammers: do not click on questionable links , use the official websites of state bodies, do not disclose bank card details, especially the CVC code. “Carefully read the text of messages that come to your phone from government agencies and from the site of government services. If the message contains a request to call back to an unfamiliar number, ignore it,” the expert advises.

MOSCOW, November 7 – RIA Novosti. Fraudsters steal money from bank cards using a video edited from footage from the government’s press conference, Natalya Shumakova, an expert at the National Center for Financial Literacy, told RIA Novosti.

According to her, a fake video appeared on social networks, which begins with frames from the news release: speeches of the Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakova, the head of the Ministry of Digital Arts Maksut Shadayev and the head FTS Daniil Egorov. It ends with detailed instructions on how to find out about the alleged payments due from the state and receive them.–

In the comments to the video, there is a link to a phishing site that mimics the pages of government agencies. The cybercriminals promise that the payment will arrive on the card within ten minutes, and not only to residents of Russia, but also CIS… To do this, they ask you to enter personal data and bank card number.–

“After that, you will lose money on your card. You may also be offered to deposit a small amount that will be required to pay for the services of a lawyer. In this case, no one will return any compensation or money spent on paying for legal services,” Shumakova warns.

The creators of the site refer to non-existent regulations that promise that every Russian can allegedly receive compensation for the costs of paying for foreign-made goods.
