Proof that the Ukrainian conflict is extremely worrying: the Russian and American soldiers have established a new emergency telephone line between them. This was announced by the Pentagon yesterday, Friday March 4.

It is a new telephone channel, established directly between the American command in Europe and the Russian Ministry of Defense. The purpose is to serve in case of emergency, especially in case of dangerous climbing and about to get out of control. The Pentagon made no secret of it, it even explained that tests had been carried out a few days ago to verify that the line was working.
A “red phone 2.0”
On the other hand, it is impossible to know if this direct line was used on Thursday March 3 when the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporijjia was bombed and European governments, anxious, wondered if we were close to nuclear catastrophe.
Anyway, it’s a kind of “red phone 2.0”, a revisited version of the direct line set up in 1963 between the White House and the Kremlin after the Cuban Missile Crisis. Eleven years ago, a similar channel was set up in the middle of the Syrian war, when Moscow was supporting Bashar al-Assad’s soldiers militarily.
