Russian Writer Akunin Added to “List of Terrorists and Extremists” After Prank Call with Fake Ukrainian Leaders

The list is called the list of organizations and natural persons, about whom there is evidence of participation in extremist activity or terrorism.

It includes those who have been prosecuted under the “extremism” articles of the criminal code.

Until now, it was not known that such a criminal case was also initiated against Akunin.

By including Akunin in the “list of terrorists and extremists”, the service added an asterisk to his name, which indicates that a case of terrorism has been initiated, reports “Mediazona”.

Last week, the Russian publishing house AST decided to stop the distribution of books by Akunin and Dmitry Bykov.

Before that, Akunin expressed his readiness to support Ukraine in a conversation with pro-Kremlin pranksters Lexus and Vovan, who posed as people from the leadership of Ukraine.

“I believe that all other cultural workers of Russia who stand against Putin’s dictatorship will also be happy to help you,” among other things, Akunin told the pranksters.

The writer left Russia in 2014 after the annexation of Crimea and the invasion of Donbass.
