A Russian woman in her 60s has been sentenced to ten years in a penal camp for setting fire to one of the army’s recruitment offices.

Zjumagul Kurbanova poured gasoline and motor oil on the door of a recruitment office in St. Petersburg last August, then set it on fire.
According to the verdict, she was solicited by unknown actors on WhatsApp, who promised her 50,000 roubles, just over NOK 5,800.
Kurbanova, who according to Russian media is 66 or 67 years old, fled the scene, but she was arrested by the police shortly after. During the trial, she confessed to the arson and said she was remorseful.
According to the state news agency Tass, 220 attacks against military offices and other public buildings in Russia have been registered since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
184 acts of sabotage against the Russian railway have also been registered.
