Russian Woman Sentenced to 21 Years in Prison for Poisoning Cheesecake and Stealing Victim’s Identity

21 years in prison for a cheesecake! But not just any… A Russian woman was sentenced to 21 years in prison on Wednesday in New York for having tried to kill her American look-alike with a poisoned cheesecake, before stealing her identity.

Viktoria Nasyrova, 47, was convicted of attempted murder last February by a New York jury. His 21-year prison sentence was handed down on Wednesday, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced. She faced a maximum sentence of 25 years.

In August 2016, the accused went to the home of her 35-year-old victim and offered her a cheesecake. At the time, the two women looked a lot alike, they spoke Russian, had the same skin tone, brown hair and many other common physical characteristics.

She stole her passport and work permit

After eating the cake, the thirties had become unwell and lost consciousness. The next day, a friend of hers found her unconscious. Pills were scattered around her to make it look like a suicide attempt, according to the Queens prosecutor’s office.

When the victim returned home after a stint in hospital, she discovered that her passport and work permit were missing, along with jewelry and valuables.

Analyzes of the cheesecake revealed that it contained Phenazepam, a very powerful sedative, according to the office of the prosecutor. Viktoria Nasyrova, who lived in Brooklyn, was also convicted of assault, forcible confinement and theft.
