The attack was confirmed by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Via its Facebook page, the General Staff said the class of the ship was still being determined.
An infrared photo accompanying the General Staff announcement shows what appears to be a patrol boat on fire.
“Ukrainian artillery has successfully hit a Russian warship in the Dnipro River,” Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said on Tuesday, as quoted Jerusalem PostThursday (12/1/2023).

The ship is reported to be in the strategic river delta, which divides Ukraine and its capital, Kiev.
In November, Russian troops withdrew to the east bank of the river. The Ukrainian port city of Kherson, which was recaptured in November after being occupied by Russia since early March, is located at the mouth of the Dnipro.
The river flows past several islands into the Black Sea via the Dniprovska Bay.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense hasposting the daily tally of Russian casualties on Tuesday with an additional warship marked sunk, bringing the tally to 17 since the war began on February 24.
While Russia’s Black Sea Fleet far surpasses the Ukrainian fleet numerically and enjoys considerable control over maritime traffic in the Black Sea, it is unable to achieve Navy superiority in the waters due to Ukraine’s surface-to-sea combat capabilities.
