KIEV – On April 14, 2022, the Russian Defense Ministry (Kemhan) reported that the warship Moskva sank in the Black Sea. Russia said the accident occurred due to the explosion of ammunition that caused the fire.

On the other hand, Ukraine claimed that the explosion was caused by two Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missiles. This tragedy resulted in the deaths of 1 crew member and 27 others missing.

The sinking of Moscow was a severe blow to the defense and military might of the Russian seas. However, the Moskva is not the only Russian warship that Ukraine has destroyed.

The following is a list of Russian warships that have been destroyed by Ukraine.

1. Battleship Moscow

Battleship Moskva was a Soviet Union Slava-class cruiser built during the Cold War era.

The Moskva was first launched in 1979 and was put into service by the Soviet Navy in 1983.

The ship, designed from the 1960s, is equipped with a helicopter landing deck and sensor technology on the Top Pair MR-800 Voshkod long-range search radar.

This technology is combined with the MR-710 frigate’s 3D air search radar to project incoming aerial threats.
