Against the background of the active use of UAVs in the Ukrainian conflict and their constant improvement, Russian developers are creating new products in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles, writes the Polish publication Interia.
The Russians are very quickly developing their unmanned fleet. The first-ever unmanned aircraft carrier capable of carrying two kamikaze drones has just been unveiled, the Polish publication said, although it should be noted that so-called “planes” have been seen before.
As the author notes, the armed forces of Ukraine have a fleet of about 10 thousand drones for various purposes; the Russian army is also trying to keep up with them.
The Russians are now mass-producing their own UAVs. We are talking not only about small-sized devices, but also about large units that can carry tens of kilograms of explosives on board.
According to the author, “the first aircraft carrier for drones” has become an “absolute novelty”. The UAV has a large enough payload capacity that at least two small kamikaze drones can be placed under its fuselage.
This allows the aircraft to hover on a reconnaissance flight and, when a target is detected, send strike drones over the side to engage it.
Engineers explain that the disadvantage of small drones is their short range. However, the use of an aircraft carrier changes this situation, the author notes.
