Russian TV channel “Dozhj” excluded from Putin’s journalism coverage of Navalny’s activities

The Russian TV channel “Dozhj” has been excluded from the circle of journalists of Russian President Vladimir Putin for covering the activities of the opposition Alexei Navalny, the channel’s editor-in-chief Tikhon Dzyadko announced.

Several sources have said that the TV channel was excluded from the Kremlin’s journalists because it covered Navalny’s return from Germany after treatment and rallies in support of him. The information was also confirmed by Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov, who stated that “Dozhj” had supported “illegal activities”.

Dozhj journalists are not allowed to cover the meeting between Putin and US President Joe Biden, scheduled for June 16 in Geneva, and this will be the first official high-level event with Putin’s participation, which will not be attended by TV channel journalists.

In 2015, Dozhj was disconnected from a number of cable networks due to a Twitter survey about the Leningrad blockade in World War II. The editorial office asked its viewers whether it was better to return the city to German troops in order to save tens of thousands of people who died of starvation during the blockade. At that time, the TV channel was sharply criticized by the State Duma and the Kremlin.
