Russian Troops Temporarily Reduce Use of Shahed-Type Kamikaze Drones, Ukrainian Armed Forces Warn of Possible Re-Emergence

Previously, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces warned about the threat of attack drones-kamikazes of the Shahed type. It was also reported that enemy drones were detected in the north of the region heading west, and soon one of them changed direction towards Irpen.

The mayor of Kyiv confirmed that explosions were heard in the outskirts of the city.

“Explosions on the outskirts of the capital. Air defense is working,” Klitschko noted.

Russian troops have temporarily reduced the use of Shaheds

Since last year, Russian troops have been actively using Shahed-type kamikaze drones for attacks on Ukrainian territory. In recent weeks, the number of enemy drones in the skies of Ukraine has decreased slightly. The Ukrainian Armed Forces associate this with changing weather conditions and the establishment of low temperatures, as well as a possible shortage of attack drones among the Russians.

But as Natalia Gumenyuk, speaker of the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine, noted yesterday, January 11, a new transport plane had previously arrived from Tehran to Moscow, which could have brought Shaheds or components for them.

She added that Iranian assistance to the Russian Federation continues, which means that new drones could be manufactured to attack Ukraine.
