On Thursday, Russian troops opened fire on residents of Kherson during the evacuation, injuring nine people, Ukrainian officials said.
Oleksandrs Prokudin, the head of the military administration of the Kherson region, said on the Telegram platform, that Russian troops shelled the coastal areas and the central part of Kherson around the middle of the day.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announced that the information about the person who died during the shooting has not been confirmed.
According to Prokudin, the injured include a policeman, a doctor and a volunteer from Germany. Serhiy Kruks, the head of the emergency service, said that two sappers were also injured.
Four more people were injured when the Russians shelled a village in Kherson district.
The Russian army fired at Kherson during the evacuation of peaceful residents from the area flooded after the explosion of the Kahovka hydroelectric dam, Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, said.
“The evacuation of people continues, and at this time the Russians are shooting at Kherson. Usually terrorists,” Yermak writes in “Telegram”.
During the past 24 hours, the Russians shelled the Kherson area 34 times, hitting Kherson twice.
Today it was reported that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy was on a working visit to the Kherson region.
