Russian Troops in Ukraine Afflicted with “Mouse Fever” Outbreak: Ukrainian Intelligence

According to Ukrainian intelligence sources, an outbreak of “mouse fever”, in Norwegian, must have been reported in Russian troops fighting along the front at Kupjansk in Kharkiv.

– In the Kupjansk direction of the front of the occupiers, the mouse plague is moving down the ranks. As a result, the fighting ability among the “Russian rats” is significantly reduced, the intelligence service writes on Telegram.

Can lead to meningitis

They write that the disease can lead to blood from the eyes, severe headaches, vomiting several times a day, high fever, rashes and reduced blood pressure.

Norwegian Health Informatics (NHI) writes that the disease typically begins with flu-like symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle pain, stomach pain, refusal to eat, nausea and vomiting.

– After a period of 3–5 days with few symptoms, symptoms of acute kidney damage can appear, i.e. tenderness over the kidneys, reduced urine production, increased excretion of protein in the urine and blood in the urine, they write in the article from 2021.

Rarely, the disease can cause neurological complications in the form of meningitis and convulsions, and can lead to liver disease and mild liver inflammation.

The virus is normally found in mice, lemurs and other small rodents. According to the NHI, the infection is probably transmitted to humans by inhalation of droplets or particles from dried excrement from rodents. Infection can also be transmitted through contaminated drinking water from a well or stream.

Lack of medical equipment

It is claimed by the Ukrainian intelligence sources that the soldiers’ complaints about the outbreak have been ignored by Russian commanders, who see it as an excuse and an attempt to avoid fighting.

In general, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has informed that discontent is growing in the units of the Russian army due to the insufficient supply of winter supplies and a complete lack of medical equipment.

NTB writes that the Russians have been particularly active recently in recapturing areas the Ukrainians took back a year ago. President Volodymyr Zelenskyj wants to speed up the construction of defense facilities at the front in the north and east, where Russian forces are pressuring the Ukrainians in several places.

Zelenskyj specifically mentioned Avdijivka and Marjinka, both vulnerable towns in the Donetsk region. In the Kharkiv region he drew up the front at Kupjansk and at Kupjansk-Lyman.

Claims to have the upper hand

Russian forces are struggling to secure all their positions in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, but have equally managed to make advances, including at Kupjansk near Kharkiv.

The Russian president also spoke about the course of the war on Tuesday, almost two years after the Russians began their full-scale invasion of the neighboring country. Vladimir Putin claims that it is Russia that now has the upper hand after having resisted a months-long Ukrainian counter-offensive.

– We effectively do what we think is necessary, we do what we want. When our officers believe it is necessary to stick to active defense, they do so. And we improve our positions when necessary.
