Russian troops have committed more than 200 environmental crimes in Ukraine

Russia troops have committed at least 231 environmental crimes in Ukraine since the beginning of open military aggression, Ukraine Ecology and the Ministry of Natural Resources.

“231 ecological crimes in the territory of Ukraine and the Black Sea have already been documented in the Russian Federation. The highest number of ecocides has been detected in the Kiev region – 34, in the Donbass region – 27, and in the Dnipropetrovsk region – 22,” the ministry’s press service said in a statement.

The ministry said the rocket fire caused widespread fires in critical infrastructure, primarily oil tanks and chemical plants. It causes significant damage to ecosystems, environmental pollution and declining populations of plant and animal species.
