KYIV, KOMPAS.com – Troops Russia almost besieged Kota Severodonetsk which was controlled by Kyiv and tried to invade it.
“The city is almost surrounded by russian army and (separatists) Luhansk People’s Republic“cover Oleksandr Striuk, Kepala Administrasi Militer Severodonetsk on Ukrainian television, Friday (6/5/2022).
“They tried to storm the city through nearby villages,” he added AFP.

Severodonetsk is the main city in eastern Ukraine. The city is in the easternmost region of the country.
Striuk said Russian troops showed movement for a multi-pronged attack on Severodonetsk.
The capture of Severodonetsk would be a huge boon for the Russian army, which has refocused its efforts to capture all of the eastern Donbass region.
Striuk said there was fighting going on in a village north of Severodonetsk.
He said the Ukrainian army had so far resisted these attacks, but Russia was pressing ahead.

“The city is holding out, but residents can sense that they (Russian troops) are trying to get around,” said Struk.
He said about 15,000 people remained in Severodonetsk, which had a population of about 100,000 before the war.
