Traces of the “troll factory” were found in eight social networks, including Telegram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.
Russia uses troll factory to spread disinformation about the war in Ukraine on social media, targeting politicians in a number of countries, including the UK and South Africa.
This was stated by the British Foreign Office, writes Reuters. The agency refers to an expert study funded by Britain.
The study revealed how the Kremlin’s disinformation campaign was designed to manipulate international public opinion about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, increase its support and recruit new supporters.
“We cannot allow the Kremlin and its shady troll farms to invade our online space with their lies about Putin’s illegal war. The UK government has alerted international partners and will continue to work closely with allies and media platforms to undermine Russian information operations,” she said. Foreign Minister Liz Truss.
The study found that the troll factory used the Telegram messenger to recruit and coordinate new supporters, who then targeted social media profiles of Kremlin critics, leaving them comments in favor of Vladimir Putin and the war he unleashed.
Traces of the “troll factory” were found in eight social networks, including Telegram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok. Among their targets were British ministers and other world leaders.
