In connection with the full-scale invasion of the Russian army into Ukraine and the reaction of the world community to the Kremlin’s aggression, Russian citizens increasingly began to travel to Belarus.
The Belarusian publication “Solidarity” studied reviews Russians about the trip and said that the “big brothers” think about Belarus.
So, Russian tourists do not consider Belarus a “normal place to travel”, which is difficult for them to get to. In addition, some admitted that they were afraid to go to the Baltic countries, for example, because of the negative attitude towards the Russians.
Traditionally, tourists praise the cleanliness in Belarusian cities, the quality of products, and the friendliness of people. However, many are dissatisfied with the ruble exchange rate.
“Here are allies for you – the Belarusians value the currency of their elder sister and the union republic much cheaper than the currencies of Western countries“, – wrote one of the Russians.
Another reason for Russians to travel to Belarus is shopping. They are trying to buy up Western brands that left Russia in 2022. Due to the increase in demand, sellers have predictably raised the prices of goods, and now locals are unhappy with the hype created by tourists.
Nikolai, who visited Minsk, wrote that he saw in the Minskers “squeezed and closed people”, whom he had not met anywhere before.
“A couple of times they caught on themselves frankly evaluating unfriendly glances“, he stated.
According to the Russian, he managed to make a remark to young people who were sitting at the next table in the morning, cursing and drinking alcohol. In response, he was offered to “leave for Russia” immediately.
By the way, Russians also complain that in Belarus they are being annoyed by “holy” youth.
Recently, Belarus has been maximally strained relations with Poland and Lithuania. Initially, unknown people appeared there, who staged provocations, because of which the countries strengthened control at the borders.
Later Minsk organized military training near the borders.
