Russian tennis player Elina Avanesyan reached the fourth round of Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam tournament of the season.

In the third round, the 20-year-old Russian defeated the Danish Clara Tauson, the 127th racket of the world, with a score of 3:6, 6:1, 7:5.

Her next opponent will be the winner of the pair Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic) – Irina Begu (Romania).

The Russian woman lost to the 192nd racket of the world from Ukraine at Roland Garros

Avanesyan is ranked 134th in the WTA rankings. In the main draw, she acts as a “lucky loser” – the Russian woman lost in the finals of the qualification, but got into the tournament after one of the participants was eliminated. Previously, Avanesyan played only once in the main draw at the Grand Slam tournaments – last year she lost in the first round at the US Open.

In the first round of “Roland Garros” Avanesyan beat the 12th racket of the world Swiss Belinda Bencic.

Roland Garros will end on June 11th. The total prize fund of the tournament is €49.6 million.
