Russian woman devastatingly lost to the second racket of the world at Wimbledon

Andreeva plays at Wimbledon for the first time in her career. Earlier this season, the Russian also made it through the qualifications to the main draw of Roland Garros, her first Grand Slam tournament in her career. She reached the third round, where she lost to the American Corey Gauff, who was then in sixth place in the WTA rankings.

Andreeva is the second player under the age of 17 to reach the round of 16 in women’s singles at Wimbledon in the 21st century. The first was Maria Sharapova (2003).

Andreeva occupies the 102nd line in the world ranking, at the end of April in Madrid she won the first match at the WTA tournament in her career and became the youngest participant in the 1/8 finals of the WTA-1000 tournaments.

Wimbledon will end on July 15th. The total prize pool of the tournament is £44.7 million.
