Russian Surface Ships Spotted Near Wind Farms and Submarine Power Cables: Swedish Navy Commander Concerned About Sabotage and Attack on Power Grids

Russian surface ships have been spotted near wind farms and submarine power cables.

“We are convinced that Russia did it, somehow put the targets on the map,” Skoog Haslum said.

Asked if there was a risk that the Russians were planning to sabotage and destroy underwater electrical cables, the Swedish Navy commander said that could be true.

“Absolutely. This is one of the ways to carry out an operation against us,” she said.

Since a Russian attack on power grids is possible, she said, the Swedish navy is on high alert to prevent sabotage.

“Therefore, we are constantly striving both to reflect intentions, being in close proximity to the targets, and to demonstrate our will to self-defense,” the commander added.

Recall that in September last year, four days before the explosion of the Nord Stream pipes, the Russian special vessel SS-750 was seen near them.

It was also reported that Russia could blow up gas pipelines in order not to pay penalties under contracts.

Meanwhile, in Sweden, the main scenario for undermining Russian gas pipelines is the involvement of state structures. Private initiative is possible only in theory.
