Moscow (Reuters) – Twitter has been targeted by the control authorities in Russia.
The telecommunications regulator Roskomnadzor said on Monday that the short message service “willfully” violates Russian laws. In some cases, the US group failed to comply with the authority’s requests to delete prohibited content. These are related to suicides, drugs and pornography. If Twitter is found guilty of repeatedly failing to remove prohibited content, the company faces a heavy fine. There was initially no comment from Twitter. Recently, the supervision of social networks, especially the video platform TikTok, demanded that calls for solidarity rallies for the imprisoned oppositionist Alexej Navalny be stopped.
