Russian Strike Kills at Least 5 People in Ukraine
A Russian bombardment in the city center of Chernihiv in northern Ukraine has resulted in the death of several people and left several others injured, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The attack targeted a university and a theater in the city. Zelenskyy shared the news on Telegram, stating that a Russian missile hit the center of town, causing pain and loss. Ukrainian authorities have confirmed five deaths and at least 37 injuries. Russian forces had previously invaded Chernihiv but were repulsed by the Ukrainian army. Putin Meets Generals in Southern Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the generals in charge of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. Ukraine Intercepts Russian Drone Attack
Ukraine’s military announced that it had intercepted and destroyed 15 Russian drones overnight. The Russian forces launched the attack from the north using Shahed drones, with a total of 17 attack drones launched from the Kursk region. Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense was activated in various regions of the country. Both sides in the conflict have reported regular drone incursions recently, as Ukraine continues its counter-offensive to reclaim Russian-controlled territory. US Approves Transfer of F-16 Fighter Jets to Ukraine
The United States has given approval for Denmark and the Netherlands to send American F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The transfer will occur once Ukrainian pilots have completed their training.
