In the United States, the court will hold preliminary hearings on the lawsuit filed by the family of American Quin Chansman, who died in the MH17 plane crash in Donbass – the liner was shot down by the Russian occupation forces from the Buk in 2014. The lawsuit is directed against Russian banks – VTB and Sberbank.
The relatives of the victim of the tragedy accused the financial institution of financing terrorism. A hearing is scheduled for October 14 in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. They will be held remotely, reports TASS.
In addition to banks, the lawsuit of the Shansman family includes Western Union and MoneyGram, American money transfer services.
Representatives of the deceased passenger of the Boeing 777 went to court two years ago. All this time, the judges were considering the defendants’ objections. In particular, recently their claim that the jurisdiction of the district court allegedly does not extend to the case of the MH17 disaster was not supported.
By this decision, the court made it possible to hold hearings on the Shansmanov claim.
The relatives of the deceased believe that Russian banks and Western Union were used to transfer money to terrorists in the occupied areas of the Donetsk region. They, in turn, as stated in the lawsuit, are responsible for the tragedy.
Recall: the liner performing flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed on July 16, 2014. It is assumed that he was shot down from the territory of the occupied part of Donbass. All 298 people on flight MH17 were killed.
As reported OBOZREVATEL, the prosecution in the case of the crash in the Donbass Boeing-777 stated that the Russian Federation refuses to cooperate and transfers incorrect information to the investigation.
