Russian soldiers who captured an administrative building in Berdyansk, Zaporozhye Oblast, southeastern Ukraine, have shot dead a local who refused to give them a telephone, Ivan Arefiev, a spokesman for the Zaporozhye Oblast’s Security Council, told Telegram.

“Soldiers were shot dead by the Russian Federation’s soldiers for not giving them a mobile phone to call home in Russia. This is a so-called military operation aimed at “protecting Ukrainians as victims of intimidation and genocide,” the statement said.

Arefiev said the maraudierism and robbery of Russian troops was evidenced by records of shops, gas stations and surveillance cameras located by local residents, which are freely available on social networks.

Russian soldiers occupied the administrative building of Berdyansk municipality on Sunday. The municipality refuses to work under the control of the occupying power.
