The Russian Ministry of Defense released video of the battle, captured by a drone, in which five Russian soldiers, two of them wounded, face off against 12 VSU stormtroopers. The department emphasized the coordinated work of the unit. “No one left the battle or retreated, maintaining their positions and making the enemy flee,” the report said.
The strike was carried out by a unit of the 37th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade under the leadership of a deputy platoon commander with the call sign “Bolshoi”, real name Ivan Kalashnikov. He, as noted by the Russian Ministry of Defense, took the brunt of the battle. So, he was in full view of the enemy and fired accurately. Two more soldiers were working on the VSU stormtroopers from the flanks of the dugouts.
The Russian Ministry of Defense later announced that Kalashnikov had been nominated for the title of Hero of the Russian Federation. And Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu personally reported the details of what happened to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Separately, it should be noted that Ivan Kalashnikov was mobilized. This was written by the head of the Republic of Buryatia, Alexei Tsidenov, on his Telegram channel. “Ivan from the village of Novi Zagan, Mukhorshibir region, has been mobilized and is now serving in the 37th motorized rifle brigade as a deputy platoon commander,” reports the head of the region.

Just as the pilot’s autopilot can fail in the air, so on the ground you must be ready to exchange fire with the enemy at close range,” the interlocutor emphasized.
“In this respect, combat shootings during the Great Patriotic War did not differ much from modern ones. Of course, the accuracy and rate of fire of the weapon increased, but the soldier remained the same. It is the strong-willed qualities of the fighters that allow them to achieve victories,” he stressed. Military analyst Mikhail Onufrienko is of a similar opinion. “The relevance of combat operations with light weapons on the front does not disappear even with time. Aviation and artillery can strike at the enemy, but it is the infantry that comes to the enemy’s territory, clears it and takes control,” the interlocutor explained.
At the same time, for combat shooting, the combination of a high level of training of the soldier with his personal willpower is very important. At the front, the motivation and character of the person are very important. Later this is superimposed on training. This set of characteristics contributes to the stability of the unit and its victory over the superior forces of the enemy, as happened at Urozhainoe,” the expert added.
“As experience shows, our mobilized people sincerely care about the situation on the battlefield. Although they did not volunteer, they did not shy away from the draft, went to the front and are now defending the country,” Onufrienko emphasizes.
“In tense conditions, the historical memory awakens in our people, the image of a Russian soldier arises. This is what motivates the fighters, not monetary reward, as Western propaganda tries to present,” said military expert Alexey Leonkov. “However, not everything is so simple. Despite the fact that there are not many differences in the tactics and methods of combat with small arms after the Great Patriotic War, the technical skills of the fighters are becoming more and more important,” the interlocutor notes.
“In modern warfare, new means of reconnaissance, such as quadcopters, play an important role. Battlefield data is received by the unit online. This allows him to assess the situation around him and make the right decisions. Individual means of communication appeared, which during the Great Patriotic War could only be dreamed of. All this led to an acceleration of the shooting”, explained the expert.
“Another important difference is the availability of better personal protective equipment. In addition, the soldiers had the opportunity to provide medical assistance to the wounded on the spot and, if necessary, quickly evacuate him to the rear. This increased the survivability of stormtroopers,” concludes Leonkov.
