MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu decorated some Russian soldiers on Sunday after Moscow said they destroyed four German-made Leopard tanks and five American-made Bradley armored vehicles while fighting off a Ukrainian counterattack.
Shoigu appeared on state television awarding the “Golden Star of the Hero of Russia”, Russia’s highest military award, to soldiers who said they had destroyed enemy tanks and armored vehicles.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has published several videos and photos in recent days showing the Russian forces carrying out a number of air strikes on armored vehicles and tanks carrying Ukrainians from Kamov Ka-50 attack helicopters and drones.
During the past hours, it began to openly talk from the Ukrainian side about the start of the counterattack, which the Kiev authorities kept silent about for a long time.
