The now-convicted soldier Daniil Frolkin confessed to journalists last year that he had murdered a Ukrainian civilian.
In August 2022, Frolkin spoke with Yekaterina Fomina, a journalist of the Russian independent media “Vazhniye istorii” (“Important stories”) and confessed that he had killed a civilian in the village of Andrijivka near Kyiv, and also named the commanders who had given orders to kill civilians.
Because of this interview, a case was filed against him for spreading “fake news” in an organized group about the Russian army for selfish reasons.
In Ukraine, Frolkin is accused of violating the laws and customs of war. He faces up to life in prison on those charges.
