EU head of diplomacy Josep Borrell and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that negotiations with Russia on “security guarantees” will take place only with the participation of the European Union. The diplomats also stressed the importance of using forums such as the OSCE in this matter.

It is noted that Borrell and Blinken took note of Russia’s views on possible measures on “security guarantees” presented last week. The diplomats highlighted the strong partnership between the US and the EU and a shared commitment to transatlantic security, as well as confronting common challenges.
“They agreed that any discussion of European security will take place in coordination and with the participation of the European Union,” the release says.
