Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The situation in Ukraine is getting tense. Since Thursday (24/2/2022), the country has been under attack by Russia after President Vladimir Putin announced a “military operation” in Eastern Ukraine, Donbass.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky even said that Russian “sabotage groups” had entered the capital Kyiv. He urged townspeople to remain vigilant and adhere to the curfew.
He also added that he and his family remained in Ukraine. Although Russia identified him as “target number one”.
“According to our information, the enemy marked me as the No. 1 target, my family, as the No. 2 target,” he was quoted as saying AFP and CNN
“They want to destroy Ukraine politically by destroying the head of state. We have information that an enemy sabotage group has entered Kyiv.”
Meanwhile, the capital Kyiv has been dark and very quiet since Thursday night. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced a curfew from 10pm to 7am local time, leaving streets deserted and many buildings completely dark.
People all over the city had turned off their lights or closed their curtains. The city’s public transport system has also been closed at night, although all metro stations remain open and can be used as emergency shelters.
