During the rocket attack on the night of Sunday, July 23, Russia used 19 missiles of various types to make them difficult to shoot down and cause more damage. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in his address to the nation on Sunday, quoted by “Ukrinform”.
“The liquidation of the consequences of the Russian terrorists’ attack on our Odesa continues all day today. Nineteen missiles of various types – to make them harder to shoot down and cause more destruction,” Zelensky said.
He noted that as a result of the Russian attack one person died. Another 20 people were injured, including four children: aged 11, 12 and two aged 17. All are currently receiving medical attention.
In addition to human casualties, nearly 50 buildings were damaged in the impact, 25 of which are architectural monuments.
“Historical center. A world heritage site that was taken under the protection of UNESCO. The building of the Greek consulate was also damaged, and this is the second consular institution in Odessa affected by Russian terror. Just three days ago, another similar attack damaged the building of the Chinese consulate. Obviously, this is all a global threat,” the president added.
Moscow blamed Kiev and UNESCO for the Odessa Cathedral attack
The organization has not sanctioned Ukraine’s lawlessness for years, according to Maria Zakharova
We recall that Moscow blamed Ukraine and UNESCO for the damaged cathedral.
The damage to the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odessa is on Kiev’s conscience. This was stated on Sunday by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
“First, after what the regime in Kyiv did to dozens of Orthodox churches, to the Kyiv-Pechora Lavra, relics, monuments and memorials, it has no right to appeal to legality, she wrote on the Telegram channel, already confirmed by the Ministry of Defense. Second, the UNESCO secretariat takes a biased position regarding the situation in Ukraine,” noted Zakharova.
In addition, the diplomat noted that “representatives of the bureaucracy of this organization (UNESCO) refuse to notice the lawlessness that has been happening in Ukraine for many years.” “Furthermore, when the gang ordered the monument to Catherine II the Great to be removed from the pedestal and taken somewhere, UNESCO was silent again and immediately after that decided to start “cultural protection” of the historical center of Odessa, which cannot be called historical after the dismantling of the sculpture of the founder of the city,” added Zakharova.
