Members of the Russian rock band Bi-2, detained in Thailand, are being held in the heat in an open-air cell at a immigration police detention center in Bangkok. About it told journalist and presenter of the Dozhd TV channel Mikhail Kozyrev.
“The conditions in which they are kept are absolutely monstrous. They are now in an open cell – this is a cage under the hot sun, it is now 35-40 degrees hot,” the journalist noted.
According to him, the group members had their means of communication taken away and were not provided with translations of court documents. In addition, Russian-speaking “negotiators” are periodically placed in the musicians’ cells, who put psychological pressure on them, scaring them with the consequences of their business and hinting at bribes, Kozyrev said.
In his opinion, the situation with the Bi-2 group is directly controlled by the Russian authorities; this is a demonstrative reprisal against musicians who do not support the war, the journalist believes.
Bi-2″ is one of several Russian rock bands that openly opposed the war with Ukraine. After this, the authorities recognized the band’s leader Leva Bi-2 (real name Egor Bortnik) as a “foreign agent”, and the band’s musicians were forced to leave Russia Among the team members are citizens of three countries: Russia, Israel and Australia.

The musicians of the group “Bi-2” were detained on January 24 after a concert in Phuket, the court imposed small fines on them for performing without work visas, but after this the band members were not released, but were sent to a temporary detention center – it is assumed that for subsequent deportation.
Russian opposition politician Dmitry Gudkov told in an interview with Current Time that the Russian Consul General in Thailand Vladimir Sosnov is personally seeking the deportation of musicians who entered Phuket with Russian passports to Russia. These, according to the consul, are five out of seven. Gudkov does not rule out that if deported to Russia, the detainees may face criminal prosecution due to their anti-war position.
The Bi-2 participants themselves admitted that the reason for the arrest was “wrongly executed documents by the organizers.” However, in their opinion, external pressure played an important role in the detention, the reasons for which were the views and position of the musicians.
