Russian aviation authorities say a Russian-registered plane disappeared from radar over Afghanistan on Saturday night. The plane, which is said to have had six people on board, is a charter plane on its way from India to Moscow via Uzbekistan, the authorities say further in a statement.
Furthermore, the Russian authorities say that they are in contact with the authorities in Afghanistan and Tajikistan about the matter. Badakhshan province borders China, Tajikistan and Pakistan, but the exact location of the plane crash is not known.
– We have dispatched rescue teams, but they have not arrived yet, local authorities in Badakhshan told AFP on Sunday morning.
– We were informed by the local population in the morning.
The province is home to the Hindu Kush mountain range, of which Afghanistan’s highest mountain Noshaq at 7,492 meters is a part.
