Russian Regions Shut Down Mobile Internet at Night in Desperate Attempt to Prevent Ukrainian Drone Strikes

Three regions of Russia have begun turning off mobile Internet at night, likely in an attempt to prevent UAV strikes.

In the Leningrad, Pskov and Novgorod regions of Russia, mobile Internet began to be turned off at night. According to the official version, the cause was technical work. However, experts say, this is a desperate attempt to prevent new attacks by Ukrainian UAVs.

About it reported Russian edition of The Moscow Times.

Journalists noted that night shutdowns of mobile Internet were introduced in regions of the Russian Federation where attack drones had previously flown. Authorities have notified residents that they will have to go without this service from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am every day until at least January 30.

The official version says that the shutdown is supposedly necessary for “reconfiguration of the radio frequency spectrum of transmitting equipment“. It raises doubts, since nothing like this has been observed before.

Experts claim that by turning off the mobile Internet, the Russian authorities and military are trying to prevent new attacks by Ukrainian UAVs. However, such a measure is useless, since combat drones use all available frequency bands. The only thing it does is create difficulties and inconvenience for citizens of the Russian Federation.

Let us note that Ukraine is very actively and quite successfully using attack drones to deliver sensitive attacks on Russia. The targets of attacks are often military and energy facilities of the Russian Federation.

Judging by the latest operations, Kyiv has UAVs capable of delivering strikes over distances of over 1 thousand km. The Russian Federation simply does not have such a large number of air defense systems that could cover the sky over all critical objects. Moscow is obviously very worried about the situation.

Earlier, Dialog.UA reported that after the Ukrainian Armed Forces drone struck the Rosneft oil refinery in Tuapse performed disaster.

We also wrote that a Ukrainian drone paralyzed the terminal of the largest LNG producer in the Russian Federation.
