Russian prosecutor’s office requests 25-year sentence for Kremlin critic Vladimir Kara-Murza.

On Thursday, the Russian prosecutor’s office requested a 25-year prison sentence for Kremlin critic Vladimir Kara-Murza, who has been charged with spreading false information about the war started by Russia in Ukraine.

41-year-old Kara-Murza is also accused of treason and association with an undesirable organization.

His lawyers said Kara-Murza is suffering from nerve damage caused by attempts to poison him in 2015 and 2017, and his condition has worsened in prison.

Kara-Murza was a close ally of Kremlin critics Boris Nemtsov and Mikhail Khodorkovsky. Oppositionist Nemtsov was shot on February 27, 2015 in the center of Moscow, near the Kremlin.

Most Kremlin critics are in prison or have left Russia like Khodorkovsky.
