Moscow continues to assert that the Ukrainian army allegedly launched a large-scale counter-offensive operation.
Since the beginning of this week, the Russian Defense Ministry and Russian propaganda resources have been reporting “the start of a large-scale counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” According to their statements, the Ukrainian army is “attacking in the Zaporozhye direction.”
On Friday, June 9, about the alleged start of the counter-offensive operation of the Ukrainian army declared and Kremlin head Vladimir Putin.
“We can say for sure that this offensive has begun. This is evidenced by the use of strategic reserves by the Ukrainian army”– he said.
Putin claims that “the Ukrainian military did not achieve its goals” in the course of the “offensive actions” he mentioned, but at the same time notes “the preservation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces of its potential.”
In addition, he acknowledged the lack of modern weapons in the Russian army, but tried to assure the Russians that the defense industry of the Russian Federation “is developing rapidly.”
Recall that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Ukrainian officials do not confirm the reports of the Russians and a number of Western media about the “start of the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army.” In particular, NSDC Secretary Aleksey Danilov said that all the statements of the Russian propaganda in this regard are not true.
Meanwhile, Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar, commenting on the situation in the Zaporozhye direction on June 9, said that positional battles were continuing there.
Earlier, analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War wrote that the Armed Forces of Ukraine switched from defense to offensive on the flanks of Bakhmut, where they managed to advance from 200 to 2000 meters.
